Famous Filipinos

The Philippines is home to numerous individuals who have gained fame and recognition in various fields. The following are my personal picks that may not be in favour with others. Here are some examples of famous Filipinos:

Manny Pacquiao
A renowned professional boxer and politician, Manny Pacquiao is considered one of the greatest boxers of all time. He has won multiple world titles in several weight divisions. He has since moved on to politics where he hopes to make more money.

Lea Salonga
Lea Salonga is a world-renowned Filipina singer and actress. She gained international recognition for her portrayal of Kim in the musical "Miss Saigon" and as the singing voice of Disney princesses Jasmine (Aladdin) and Mulan.

Jose Rizal
Dr. Jose Rizal is a national hero of the Philippines. He was a writer, reformist, and advocate for Philippine independence during the Spanish colonial period. His works, including the novel "Noli Me Tangere" and "El Filibusterismo," are considered significant in Philippine literature.

Pia Wurtzbach
Pia Wurtzbach is a Filipina beauty queen who won the Miss Universe title in 2015, bringing pride to the Philippines. She is also an actress and television host.

Efren "Bata" Reyes
Efren Reyes is a legendary Filipino pool player known as "The Magician." He has achieved great success in international pool tournaments and is widely regarded as one of the greatest pool players in history.

Liza Soberano
Liza Soberano is a popular Filipina actress and model. She has starred in several successful television series and films, gaining recognition for her talent and beauty.

Manny Villar
Manny Villar is a successful businessman and politician. He is the founder of Vista Land & Lifescapes, one of the largest real estate companies in the Philippines. He has also served as a senator and was a presidential candidate in 2010.

Imelda Marcos
Imelda Marcos is a controversial figure in Philippine history. She was the First Lady during the presidency of her husband, Ferdinand Marcos. Imelda Marcos gained notoriety for her extravagant lifestyle and extensive shoe collection.

EugeneTorre
Eugenio "Eugene" Torre is a Filipino chess player. In 1974, at 22 years old, he became the first Filipino and Asian to qualify for the title Grandmaster. Torre did this by winning the silver medal in the 21st Chess Olympiad in Nice, France. He was considered the strongest chess player the Philippines produced during the 1980s and 1990s, and played for the Philippines on board 1 in seventeen Chess Olympiads. In 2021, Torre was inducted into the World Chess Hall of Fame.

Vice Ganda
Jose Marie Borja Viceral, popularly known as Vice Ganda (Tagalog: lit. 'Beautiful Vice'), is a beloved Filipino comedian, talk show host, television presenter, actor, entrepreneur, and singer. He is a regular host on ABS-CBN's noontime variety show It's Showtime, and has starred in several films, eight of which are considered to be the highest-grossing in Philippine cinema.

The Philippines has a rich and diverse pool of talented individuals across various industries still waiting to be discovered.
